18:10:1077.4 On this day King Eadred II ‘The Bemused’ was born to King Eadred I and Queen Morag. He ascended to the throne at the age of 18 and married Catherine of Skog. The union was blessed with two children, Eadred & Bemoana (d.1090). The title, The Bemused, was awarded posthumously after he lost the keys to the city during the opening of the Guildhall in 1127. He spent the rest of his impressively long reign looking for them. He died in 1177 aged 95, when the royal yacht was wrecked on a reef while an over ambitious admiral was trying to impress His Majesty with an attempt to invent water skiing.
